Businesses here are often in expansion mode
Expansion Management magazine recently put out a useful list of top ten reasons why companies relocate. These are:
# 1 Expand operations
# 2 Lower operating costs
#3 Modernize equipment or facilities
# 4 Move closer to a large segment of their market or establish a presence in a new market
# 5 Consolidate into fewer facilities
# 6 Be closer to certain suppliers or natural resources
# 7 Access a better, different or larger labor pool
# 8 Eliminate specific labor-related situations (i.e.unions)
# 9 Cluster around similar-type companies
# 10 Improve quality of life.
We are pleased that Santa Cruz County can favorably respond to every one of these relocating reasons! We have already noted some of these here in our intro pages, and later will address other points listed above in more detail.
